“Whoa, Fussy Britches,” is what owner Krystn Shapiro can often be heard saying to her daughter, Maeva, when she is having a particularly “tough” day. So, when she started exploring her creativity through sewing children’s clothing, Fussy Britches seemed like the perfect name for her new venture. After 10 years working in marketing, Krystn left her job in August 2006 to be a stay-at-home mom. Although she loved her new role, Krystn found herself looking for an outlet to pour her creativity into. When she received a personalized shirt as a gift for her daughter she instantly thought, “I can do this. And, I can do it better.”
It was then that Krystn started sewing a few initial shirts for her daughter. And soon, neighbors, friends, and even strangers at the local supermarket were asking her where they could get a similar tee. From there, Fussy Britches began.
With an eye for design, Krystn loves pouring through bolts of fabric at her local fabric shop looking for fun and whimsical patterns to use in her creations. Each Fussy Britches shirt is 100% unique and customized to your child, allowing these shirts to stand apart from traditional clothing retailers. Whatever your child loves, from dinosaurs to ballerinas, can inspire a custom shirt design. Your children will be thrilled to show off their initial on one of our signature initial tees or to have a favorite character come to life on a shirt they can call their very own.
Originally from South Jersey, Krystn moved to the Boston area in 1998 to pursue a graduate degree in marketing at Boston University. After vacationing in New England all her life, she is now happy to call it home. Krystn currently lives in southern New Hampshire with her husband Shawn, her beautiful daughter Maeva, and their labradoodle, Sebago. In addition to running Fussy Britches, Krystn also works part-time at a marketing communications firm just outside of Boston where she is a Senior Associate.
